NYPEA Hall of Fame Inductee #19 in 2022

Naomi Blumenthal

This year’s nominee is someone who for over forty years has been a part of New York Palomino Exhibitors …

She graduated from Nottingham High school in 1956. Received her degree in Psychology and Elementary Education from Syracuse University in 1962. She had a passion for horses as a child and that lead to her long career in the horse Industry. She opened her first boarding business in Oran in New York and opened one of the first privately owned show arenas in the area where she hosted horse shows year-round. She expanded those shows to what we know today. The New York State Horse Breeders and The New York State Fair Horse shows would grow and prosper only with her guidance and expertise.

For over 40 years she was executive treasurer of the Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association. National President of PHA and zone director of the Us Hunters and Jumpers association. Many know her for her teaching ability as she taught equestrian studies for 27 years and coached Cazenovia Colleges equestrian team.

She developed the first Apple-compatible horse show management software.

She received a Lifetime Achievement award from IHSA and The Frank Hawkins Award from PHA. The NYS state fair recently honored her by renaming the NYS Fair Coliseum in her honor. I will always remember her best having MIMOSAS ringside early in the morning for NYPEA Halter Classes.

Some forty years ago when we met, she always had the best interest of Our Palomino Peeps in her heart. This year we honor her memory by inducting Naomi Blumenthal into the NYPEA Hall of fame.

Thank You Naomi …
